What Data I Collect & Why
This site collects minimal personal data. Here is what I collect and the lawful basis for each:
Contact form submissions (name, email address, service interest, budget range, and message): collected via Formspree when you submit the contact form. Lawful basis: legitimate interest — to respond to your business enquiry and provide the services you've requested. Formspree Inc. acts as a data processor on my behalf under their Data Processing Agreement.
Analytics data (pages visited, time on site, referral source, approximate location by country, device type, browser): collected via Google Analytics (GA4) and Google Tag Manager. Lawful basis: consent — analytics cookies are only loaded after you accept them via the cookie banner. No personally identifiable information is collected through analytics.
Cookies
This site uses cookies only with your explicit consent. When you first visit, a cookie banner asks whether you accept analytics cookies. If you reject them, no cookies are set and the site functions normally.
If you accept analytics cookies, the following are set:
- _ga — Google Analytics client identifier. Purpose: distinguishes unique visitors. Expires: 2 years.
- _ga_* — Google Analytics session data. Purpose: maintains session state. Expires: 2 years.
Your cookie preference is stored in your browser's local storage (not a cookie itself) so we can remember your choice on future visits. You can change your preference at any time by clearing your browser's local storage for this site.
Third-Party Services & Data Processors
I use the following third-party services that may process your data:
Formspree Inc. (United States): processes contact form submissions on my behalf. Formspree stores submission data on servers in the United States. See their privacy policy.
Google LLC (United States): provides analytics via Google Analytics (GA4) and Google Tag Manager. Analytics data is processed on Google's servers, which may be located outside the UK. IP anonymisation is enabled. See Google's privacy policy.
GitHub Inc. (United States): hosts this website on GitHub Pages. GitHub may collect technical logs including IP addresses as part of their hosting infrastructure. See GitHub's privacy statement.
International Data Transfers
The third-party services listed above are based in the United States. Data transferred to these processors is protected by appropriate safeguards including standard contractual clauses and the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where applicable. By using this site and submitting the contact form, you acknowledge that your data may be processed outside the UK.
Data Retention
Contact form submissions are retained for up to 12 months to allow for follow-up communication, after which they are deleted. Analytics data is retained for 14 months in Google Analytics before automatic deletion. Cookie consent preferences are stored in your browser's local storage indefinitely until you clear them.
Your Rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right of access — request a copy of any personal data I hold about you.
- Right to rectification — request correction of inaccurate data.
- Right to erasure — request deletion of your personal data.
- Right to restrict processing — request that I limit how I use your data.
- Right to data portability — request your data in a machine-readable format.
- Right to object — object to processing based on legitimate interest.
- Right to withdraw consent — withdraw cookie consent at any time by clearing local storage.
